CHENGDU, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Thirty-one trains departing from or stopping at Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, will be temporarily suspended on Monday due to heavy rainfall, said China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd. on Sunday evening.

The disruption will affect some trains bound for destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as a few other cities in north, northwest and southwest China, according to a local railway official.

The measure was taken as strong rainfall is expected to hit parts of Sichuan and Guizhou provinces and Chongqing Municipality in southwest China from Sunday to Tuesday.

Amid the peak summer travel season, the suspension measure may be adjusted depending on actual conditions.

After the measure was announced, railway stations in Chengdu have set up dedicated counters for ticket refunds and changes.
