SYDNEY, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- A teenage boy has been charged with murder over a fatal stabbing north of Sydney in the east Australian state of New South Wales (NSW).
The NSW Police Force said that the 15-year-old boy and a 45-year-old woman were arrested at a home on the state's Central Coast, 75 km north of Sydney, in the early hours of Saturday morning following an investigation into the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to reports of the stabbing on the Central Coast around 7:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday and arrived to find the 22-year-old with stab wounds. He was treated by ambulance paramedics, but died in hospital.
The 15-year-old was charged by police with murder and the 45-year-old woman was charged with hindering the apprehension of a person who committed a serious offense.
Speaking outside court following an initial court appearance on Saturday, her lawyer Javid Faiz said he was informed by detectives that the alleged stabbing occurred following a dispute over a hat, local media reported.
He said that police had recovered CCTV footage of the incident. ■
