TEHRAN, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday warned of Israel's "false-flag" operations aimed at undermining regional peace.

He made the remarks in a post on social media platform X, a day after Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said a fire broke out Wednesday on a regasification vessel and a storage vessel at Damietta Port on the Mediterranean coast. The blaze was brought under control immediately, with no casualties reported.

"Egypt is an important friend and partner in the region, and its security is of utmost importance to us," Araghchi said.

"We must all be vigilant against Israeli plots and false-flag operations designed to undermine regional peace," he said.

The Egyptian cabinet said in a statement on Thursday that preliminary investigations indicated that a drone attack caused Wednesday's fire.

"No party has claimed responsibility for the incident," it added.
