BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, July 31 (Xinhua) -- The Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) has reminded the public to remain cautious of videos generated or manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) that contain false or misleading information.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the central bank said the warning followed the circulation of a fraudulent video that misuses BDCB's name.
The video impersonates a senior Brunei government official to promote an investment scheme, while falsely claiming that the product complies with BDCB's standards.
BDCB said it has not assessed, approved, or endorsed the investment scheme or product featured in the video.
As the regulator of Brunei's financial sector, BDCB does not offer financial products or services to the public, nor does it promote or endorse any investment scheme or platform, the release said. ■
