BISHKEK, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday signed the Treaty on Allied Relations between the two countries in Cholpon-Ata during the Uzbek leader's state visit to Kyrgyzstan, according to the Kyrgyz president's press service.
On the same day, the two heads of state issued statements to media. Japarov noted that the signing of the treaty was a key outcome of the visit.
"This is truly a historic decision. It cements the level of trust we have achieved, gives our relations a new political and legal foundation, and opens a long-term agenda for joint development," Japarov emphasized.
The Uzbek presidential website said the most important outcome of the summit was the signing of the treaty, emphasizing that the document marks elevation of bilateral partnership to the highest level of interstate cooperation. ■
