JERASH, Jordan, July 29 (Xinhua) -- China's traditional music and intangible cultural heritage took center stage on Wednesday at the 40th Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts, one of the Middle East's largest cultural events.
A Chinese arts delegation, jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Amman and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province, staged the folk music concert at the ancient Roman Hippodrome in Jerash.
The performance featured traditional Chinese instruments, including the erhu, bamboo flute, suona and pipa, alongside intangible cultural heritage elements such as nose-flute performance and leaf-blowing music.
An accompanying exhibition in the festival's international cultural area showcased Hainan's intangible cultural heritage, including coconut-shell carving, grass weaving, collage art and traditional stone-rubbing techniques.
Founded in 1981, the Jerash Festival annually brings together performers from around the world at the ancient Roman city of Jerash to promote cultural exchange. ■
