GAZA, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Three Palestinians were killed Wednesday in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza City and Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources.

Local residents and eyewitnesses said an Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of Palestinians in the Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City, killing one person and wounding three others.

In a separate incident, two people were killed and three others wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting a tent sheltering displaced people in the Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, according to medical sources.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on the two airstrikes.

Separately, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement on Wednesday that "over the past week, the IDF struck and dismantled several Hamas weapons storage facilities in the central and northern Gaza Strip."

The Gaza Strip has witnessed an escalation in Israeli airstrikes in recent weeks, targeting homes, tents of displaced people, Palestinian gatherings, and Hamas members.

Gaza-based health authorities reported on Wednesday that hospitals in the Gaza Strip received two bodies and 29 injured people over the past 24 hours.

Since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel went into effect in October 2025, Israeli attacks have killed 1,209 people, bringing the total death toll in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023, to 73,335.
