ISLAMABAD, July 30 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and several others injured after the roof of a house collapsed in Lahore, the capital of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, late Wednesday, rescue officials said.
According to Rescue 1122, the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while rescue teams continued clearing the debris in search of anyone still trapped.
Heavy machinery was deployed to speed up the operation, and authorities have directed officials to ensure the safe recovery of anyone trapped beneath the rubble, the statement said. ■
