JAKARTA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia is aiming for 38 trillion rupiah (about 2.1 billion U.S. dollars) in transactions during the 2026 Indonesia Shopping Festival, which will be held at 407 shopping centers nationwide from Aug. 7 to 23.

The target is about 52 percent higher than last year's transaction value of 25 trillion rupiah, supported by a longer festival period and expanded promotional programs, said Alphonzus Widjaja, chairman of the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association, on Thursday.

Alphonzus said the festival will run for 17 days, compared with 11 days last year, and feature shopping promotions, culinary events, entertainment programs and competitions aimed at attracting more visitors.

The event will offer discounts of up to 80 percent, as well as a lucky draw with prizes including an electric car and shopping vouchers. It will also feature bazaars for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and the Nusantara Culinary Festival.

Iqbal Shoffan, director general of domestic trade at the trade ministry, said the government supports the festival as part of efforts to boost domestic consumption and national economic activity.
