MADRID, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Elche has strengthened its attack by signing striker Fer Nino from Burgos.
The 25-year-old, who came through Villarreal's academy, joins after scoring seven goals in 38 appearances in Spain's second division last season. He netted 25 goals in 122 matches during three seasons with Burgos.
"He is a center forward with presence in the penalty area, mobility and the ability to combine with teammates," Elche said on its website. "Fer Nino stands out for his ability to play with his back to goal, his physical strength and his goalscoring instinct."
Nino joins an Elche side that narrowly avoided relegation after returning to La Liga last season. The club has appointed Argentina's Martin Anselmi as coach following the departure of Eder Sarabia.
Elche faces a major rebuilding job in attack after losing its three first-choice strikers. Andre Silva has joined Porto, Alvaro Rodriguez has signed for Bournemouth, and Rafa Mir returned to Sevilla after his loan spell ended.
The trio accounted for 25 of Elche's 49 league goals last season, leaving Nino with a significant goalscoring burden as the club prepares for the new campaign. ■
