Using a China-developed implantable brain-computer interface (BCI), two people with spinal cord injuries in Shanghai and Nanchang--more than 800 kilometers apart--recently faced off in a game of Chinese chess using only their brain signals. One controlled a virtual chessboard with his mind, while the other used a brain-controlled robotic glove to move the real pieces.
