TOKYO -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.8 rocked Japan's southwestern prefecture of Kumamoto on Wednesday evening, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi presidency on Wednesday strongly condemned U.S.-Saudi strikes targeting its paramilitary Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), calling them an "unacceptable aggression" and a "flagrant violation of Iraq's sovereignty."

MANDERA, Kenya -- Five Kenyan security officers were killed on Tuesday in an ambush by suspected al-Shabaab militants in Mandera County near the border with Somalia.
The attack occurred in the El-Raamo area of Kutulo along the Alungu Main Supply Route, when the officers' vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED) before coming under heavy gunfire, police said. (Kenya-Militants-Attack) ■
