CAIRO, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Egypt on Tuesday condemned an Israeli raid on the Qalandia Training Centre, affiliated with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), in the occupied West Bank, as well as the detention of staff inside the facility.

The raid jeopardized the "sanctity of UN premises," reflecting the continuation of Israel's "blatant, unjustified" violations in occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The incident also breached international law and the four Geneva Conventions concerning the protection of civilians under occupation, the ministry said.

Egypt reaffirmed its "categorical rejection" of any moves to undermine UNRWA's mandate or obstruct its delivery of humanitarian aid, calling on the international community to take urgent action to halt Israel's repeated violations against UN facilities, it added.

The condemnation came after Israeli forces on Monday raided the UNRWA training center in the Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied East Jerusalem, and detained staff inside the site, according to media reports.
