HANGZHOU, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Host China claimed the 10m air rifle mixed team gold after an all-Chinese final at the 2026 ISSF World Cup here on Tuesday, while Australia captured the trap mixed team crown.
The 10m air rifle mixed team event witnessed a nail-biting domestic showdown, as China's first pair of Wang Zifei and Sheng Lihao edged past the country's second team by just 0.4 points to take the title.
The two sides traded leads throughout the tight contest. China 1 built an early edge with 105.6 points in the opening stage, but China 2, comprising Du Yuchen and Zhang Changhong, bounced back to move ahead after the second round with 211.8 points versus 210.6.
The margin remained razor-thin through the third stage, before Wang and Sheng reclaimed the upper hand in the elimination rounds. The pair kept their composure in the final series to seal the gold with a total of 505.0 points, while their teammates finished with 504.6 for silver.
India's second team, represented by Sonam Uttam Maskar and Himanshu Dhillon, took the bronze with 441.2 points.
In the trap mixed team final, Australia's duo of James Willett and Penny Smith notched 37 hits to claim the gold.
Facing home favorites Qi Ying and Sun Yunong, the Australian pair got off to an even start, with both pairs dropping only one target in the first five sets to stand level at nine hits apiece.
As the pressure mounted, Willett and Smith maintained their consistency to gradually open up a gap, eventually finishing two hits ahead of the Chinese pair, who took silver with 35 hits.
Italy's experienced pair of Massimo Fabbrizi and Alessia Iezzi took the bronze. ■
