HONG KONG, July 28 (Xinhua) -- John Lee, chief executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said on Tuesday that the Legislative Council (LegCo) of the HKSAR serves as a partner in reform for the HKSAR government, sharing the same goal of solving problems for the public.
Lee made the remarks during a dialogue with LegCo members at the LegCo Complex. A total of 67 LegCo members attended the session.
He said that the dialogue had three objectives, namely to enhance mutual understanding and build consensus between the executive authorities and the legislature; to create new value for the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong" through the new initiative; and to share experiences in implementing "patriots administering Hong Kong" for fostering reform.
During the dialogue, LegCo members actively participated and engaged in open exchanges on a wide range of topics, including the economy, livelihood matters and social development.
Starry Lee Wai-king, president of the LegCo, believed that with positive executive-legislative interaction and a people-oriented approach, Hong Kong can better resolve pressing public needs. By learning from the country's success, the city will boost its development momentum, better integrate into national development, and ultimately enhance people's sense of happiness and fulfilment. ■
