TAIYUAN, July 25 (Xinhua) -- A sudden loess collapse struck a village in Hongtong County in the city of Linfen in north China's Shanxi Province, located on the Loess Plateau, on Friday evening. A house was buried as a result of the collapse, killing five people and injuring three others, according to county-level emergency response authorities.
The incident struck Haoyi Village, Dicun Township of Hongtong at around 18:49 on Friday. All eight buried individuals were found following prompt rescue efforts by local police, firefighters and medical personnel. However, five were found without vital signs, while three are in stable condition after being hospitalized. ■
