BUDAPEST, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Ferrari topped both free practice sessions on Friday as the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix got underway at the Hungaroring, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton setting the fastest times respectively.
Leclerc, winner of the British Grand Prix, continued his strong form by clocking one minute 19.075 seconds to lead the opening practice session. Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished second, while Hamilton placed third.
In the second session, Hamilton, the seven-time F1 world champion, went quickest with a lap of 1:18.729, edging teammate Leclerc into second. McLaren's Lando Norris was third.
The 40th Hungarian Grand Prix will continue on Saturday with the third free practice session and qualifying, before Sunday's race. ■
