JERUSALEM, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces said that two Palestinian men were shot and killed after stabbing an Israeli man near the Israeli settlement of Itamar in the West Bank.
According to the Israeli army, the incident occurred after a fire broke out near the settlement, and during extinguishing attempts, the two Palestinians stabbed the Israeli civilian.
It said in a statement that another Israeli man at the scene identified the attack and killed the two stabbers.
According to the army and Israel's national emergency service, Magen David Adom, the wounded Israeli, 51, was rushed by military helicopter to a hospital.
The army added that its soldiers had begun searches in the nearby Palestinian town of Beit Furik and imposed a temporary cordon on the area. ■
