YANGON, July 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 932 people were killed and 2,371 people injured in 1,686 road accidents in Myanmar in the first half of 2026, according to the Road Transport Administration Department (RTAD) on Friday.
Compared with the same period last year, the number of fatalities rose by about 4.5 percent, while the number of injuries fell by about 4.3 percent. The total number of road accidents also declined slightly from 1,692 recorded in the first six months of 2025, the RTAD's data showed.
Between January and June this year, Yangon region reported the highest number of deaths from road accidents at 191, followed by Mandalay region with 128 deaths and Bago region with 122 deaths, according to the data. ■
