HANOI, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The 14th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee concluded its third meeting on Friday, approving a proposal to establish Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh as two new centrally governed cities in northern Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Bac Ninh's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanded 10.56 percent in the first half of this year, driven by the industrial and construction sectors, while Quang Ninh's GRDP grew 11.11 percent in the period, supported by manufacturing and processing industries, services, and investment, according to the agency.
Vietnam currently has seven centrally governed cities, namely Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. ■
