AMMAN, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) said on Thursday that the Royal Air Force had dealt with four Iranian missiles and six drones targeting the kingdom over the past 24 hours.

Air defense systems intercepted and shot down three missiles on Thursday morning, while a fourth fell in an uninhabited remote area, the JAF said in a statement.

It added that six Iranian drones were downed on Wednesday evening.

The operations caused no casualties or material damage, the statement noted, adding that Royal Engineering Corps teams have secured the impact sites in accordance with established procedures.

According to the statement, the JAF remains on high operational readiness and continues to monitor the kingdom's airspace to counter any threat to Jordan's security and the safety of its citizens.

The incidents occurred amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The United States has conducted rounds of strikes against Iran, targeting military command centers, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities, and air defense systems.

In response, Iran has in recent days launched waves of missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military bases and facilities across the region.
