SEOUL, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Prices for goods and services among South Korean suppliers stood unchanged in June due to lower prices for oil and chemical products that were offset by higher semiconductor prices, central bank data showed Wednesday.
The producer price index (PPI) was unchanged in June from a month earlier, after going up for the past nine months, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).
Producer prices for industrial products, including oil products, decreased 0.3 percent in June, turning downward from an increase of 0.9 percent in the previous month.
Prices for oil and chemical products went down in single digits, but prices for computer, electronic and optical devices, including semiconductors, advanced 2.4 percent.
Service prices were up 0.2 percent on higher costs for the finance and insurance services, of which prices gained 2.5 percent amid soaring stock investment by retail investors.
Prices for agricultural, livestock and fishery products among suppliers rose 0.7 percent in June on a monthly basis, marking the first rebound in four months amid higher livestock products prices.
Prices for electricity, natural gas and tap water went up 1.0 percent in June compared to the previous month. ■
