JAKARTA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and two others remained missing after a house collapsed in an explosion suspected to involve an underground gas pipe in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, authorities said Tuesday.
The blast occurred on Monday evening at a housing complex, prompting search and rescue teams to deploy three units to clear the rubble.
Medan Search and Rescue Agency chief Hery Marantika told local media that seven people were at the site when the explosion occurred. Four people survived, including a two-year-old child. One body was subsequently recovered, while two others are believed to be trapped beneath the debris.
Rescuers have deployed thermal drones, cranes, and heavy equipment to search for the missing victims, with operations currently ongoing. ■
