TOKYO, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended higher Tuesday, helped by gains in semiconductor-related shares following a plunge late last week.
The benchmark Nikkei stock index, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average, ended up 2,091.07 points, or 3.26 percent, from Friday at 66,232.19.
The broader Topix index, meanwhile, finished 95.74 points, or 2.44 percent, higher at 4,014.95.
Japanese financial markets were closed Monday for a national holiday.
On the stock market, a broad range of issues advanced after the Nikkei index lost more than 4,600 points over two trading days last week, while semiconductor-related shares, which had been recent decliners, rose tracking overnight Wall Street gains of the sector, analysts said. ■
