Heavy to torrential rain is expected in parts of Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan and Xinjiang over the next 24 hours, according to the National Meteorological Center.
In parts of Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi, precipitation could reach 100 to 200 mm. Some areas may also experience severe convective weather, including thunderstorms, gales or hail.
The center advised local governments to take precautions against potential flooding. Traffic management departments should impose controls on rain-hit sections and guide traffic on waterlogged roads, it said.
