DOHA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Ministry of Transport on Tuesday announced the resumption of maritime navigation and marine activities for all types of vessels within designated waters extending nearly seven nautical miles (13 km).
According to a ministry circular, navigation has resumed from Lusail City, including its ports, anchorages and marine facilities, to Hamad Port in the east, and from the Umm Heesh area to Doha Salwa in the west, with the decision taking immediate effect.
The ministry urged all vessel operators to comply with applicable regulations and instructions, and ensure all required safety and security equipment is on board before and during voyages to safeguard maritime operations.
On July 12, the ministry announced the temporary suspension of maritime navigation and all marine activities as a precautionary measure to safeguard public safety. The measure applied to all maritime vessels except for those operating under international maritime conventions. ■
