JERUSALEM, July 21 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli military and Shin Bet domestic security agency on Tuesday said in a joint statement that they had killed a senior Hamas commander in Gaza City in a strike on Saturday.
The statement identified the militant as Adham Ibrahim Sha'aban Nasman, who served as head of the operations department of Hamas' Gaza City brigade.
It claimed that Nasman commanded the infiltration of militants into southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and held Israeli hostages captive.
The statement said Nasman served as a battalion commander in Hamas' Nukhba elite unit and held senior roles, including intelligence officer of the Gaza City brigade and commander of the Al-Shati Battalion in recent years.
It claimed that Nasman attempted to train brigade militants and advanced the production and distribution of weapons in recent months, as part of efforts to rebuild Hamas' military capabilities. ■
