KIGALI, July 20 (Xinhua) -- A passenger minibus heading to southern Rwanda from the capital of Kigali collided with a truck early Sunday, killing nine people and injuring 13 others, police have said.
The accident took place in the Musambira Sector of Kamonyi District and involved a minibus carrying 22 passengers en route to Muhanga District, police said late Sunday.
Preliminary investigations showed that the minibus attempted to overtake another vehicle before colliding head-on with an oncoming truck, police said.
The fatalities included the minibus driver, while the injured were taken to nearby health facilities for treatment, according to police.
Police urged motorists to exercise caution and observe traffic regulations to help prevent road accidents. ■
