KAMPALA, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Uganda women's national team forward Catharine Nagadya has expressed her delight after signing a two-year contract with Egyptian club Al Ahly SC.

The former Kampala Queens FC striker completed the move on Sunday.

"I am very excited to sign my first professional contract. I know the targets of the new club are a lot, and I will work hard to help the team achieve them," Nagadya told Xinhua on Monday.

Nagadya also thanked her former club, Kampala Queens FC, and everyone who helped make the move possible. "I am going to start a new Football journey, but I am very prepared for it," she added.

The Ugandan international is expected to strengthen Al Ahly's attack as the Egyptian side looks to improve on its runner-up finish in the 2025-26 Egyptian Women's Premier League, where it finished behind FC Masar.

Nagadya joined Kampala Queens in 2023 after spells with Martyrs Lubaga and Makerere University. During her time at the club, she helped Kampala Queens win the FUFA Women's Super League title in 2024 and the FUFA Women's Cup in 2026.

She is the latest Uganda women's international to move to Egypt, joining compatriots Bridget Nabisaalu and Phionah Nabulime, who currently play for FC Modern and FC Masar, respectively.
