NEW DELHI, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The death toll in an explosion and fire at a firecracker manufacturing factory in India's western state of Gujarat has risen to nine, officials said Sunday.
The six others injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at local hospitals.
The blast that led to a fire at the factory took place on Saturday at the Ramol area of Ahmedabad district, about 34 km south of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat.
Police have registered a case and ordered an investigation into the blast.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the blast and announced monetary relief for the victims. ■
