MANAGUA, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Nicaragua said Thursday it had severed diplomatic relations with Italy, saying the decision had been communicated to the Italian government and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
In a statement, the Nicaraguan government said the move came in response to what it called "unjustified, aggressive and irresponsible statements" by Tajani. ■
