BEIRUT, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed on Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Nabatieh al-Fawqa in southern Lebanon, according to a source from the Lebanese Civil Defense.
A fire also broke out at the targeted site, which was later extinguished, the source told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported two consecutive Israeli airstrikes on Thursday afternoon targeting the outskirts of the al-Deir neighborhood in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
It said an Israeli drone later launched a guided missile strike on the Ali al-Taher woodland area on the outskirts of the town, while another drone dropped a stun grenade over the southern town of Mansouri.
The latest strikes came just one day after representatives of Israel and Lebanon concluded their sixth round of U.S.-mediated talks in Rome aimed at advancing the implementation of a ceasefire arrangement and addressing border security issues. ■
