DOHA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- One child was injured by shrapnel during operations to intercept an Iranian aerial attack on Qatar early Friday, the Qatari Interior Ministry said.
The child was receiving necessary medical treatment, the ministry said in a statement, adding that security authorities and civil defense teams had activated approved emergency response plans following the attack.
Earlier Friday, the ministry issued two security alerts, urging the public to take necessary precautionary measures.
The incidents coincided with a new wave of U.S. strikes on targets in Iran, while Iranian media reported Iran's retaliatory attacks on U.S. military facilities in Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar.
Iranian media reported that at least seven people were killed and 16 others were wounded Thursday night in U.S. strikes on bridges and residential areas in southern Iran. ■
