ISLAMABAD, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Six members of a family were killed after a fire engulfed their house in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, rescue officials said on Thursday.
The fire broke out in the Tehkal Payan area of Peshawar, the provincial capital, according to state-run Rescue 1122.
The victims included a husband, his wife and their four children. Rescue teams recovered the bodies after extinguishing the blaze and searching the house.
Officials said the family likely died from intense heat and smoke inhalation as the fire spread rapidly through the building. Furniture and other household items in the affected portion of the house may have fueled the flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. ■
