MUSCAT, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Oman on Tuesday reaffirmed its commitment to working with all parties to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law.
In a statement, Oman's Foreign Ministry said the sultanate continues its "transparent and neutral cooperation" with all parties to restore navigation through the strategic waterway, while remaining fully committed to its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The ministry called on all parties to respect and abide by international law, stressing that efforts to restore maritime navigation should be conducted in full compliance with internationally recognized legal principles.
The statement followed reports by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations earlier in the day that two oil tankers were attacked while transiting the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. ■
