JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia will continue pursuing trade diplomacy to safeguard its fatty acid exports after a mixed World Trade Organization (WTO) ruling on the European Union's anti-dumping duties, Trade Minister Budi Santoso said Wednesday.
"The Indonesian government will use the ruling as a basis for formulating further measures to defend market access for Indonesian fatty acid exports to the European Union," Budi said.
In its final report issued on July 8, the WTO panel rejected some of Indonesia's claims but upheld several technical arguments concerning the methodology used by EU authorities to calculate dumping margins.
Indonesia initiated the dispute in response to the EU's anti-dumping duties on Indonesian fatty acid products, which Jakarta considered inconsistent with WTO rules.
Budi said the government remained committed to supporting the domestic fatty acid industry through strategic measures aimed at maintaining competitiveness and sustaining export performance in the global market. ■
