JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has urged regional governments to strengthen supplies and ensure the smooth distribution of goods to keep inflation under control in the second half of 2026.
Speaking after a coordination meeting on inflation control in Jakarta on Tuesday, Karnavian called on regions with relatively high inflation to immediately adopt measures tailored to local conditions, including increasing supplies and improving the distribution of essential goods.
"I have instructed all regional governments. My focus is on regions with high inflation, mostly in eastern Indonesia and also Aceh. The measures include increasing supply," he said.
Karnavian said Indonesia's annual inflation remained under control at 3.34 percent in June, below the upper limit of the government's target range of 3.5 percent.
However, he said the government would continue to monitor monthly inflationary pressures arising from several factors.
The main contributors included transportation costs, particularly airfares, amid increased public mobility during the school holiday period, as well as several food commodities that continued to put pressure on prices, he added. ■
