JAKARTA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia and Singapore reaffirmed their defense partnership during a meeting between their defense ministers in Jakarta on Tuesday and launched a new alumni forum to further strengthen military-to-military ties.
According to an official statement issued Wednesday, Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and his Singaporean counterpart Chan Chun Sing discussed ongoing bilateral defense cooperation before jointly inaugurating the Indonesia-Singapore Defense Alumni Forum.
The forum is aimed at strengthening connections between the two countries' defense communities and promoting closer bilateral cooperation.
Indonesia and Singapore have maintained longstanding defense ties through a bilateral defense agreement, regular joint military exercises and broader strategic engagement. ■
