VILNIUS, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania's new Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius and 14 ministers took office on Tuesday.
The Lithuanian parliament on Tuesday approved the new cabinet and its government program by 72 votes in favor, 29 against and four abstentions. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda signed a decree on July 6 approving the cabinet.
Sinkevicius unveiled the government program on July 3, identifying national security, economic growth and improved living standards as main priorities.
The government of Inga Ruginiene announced its resignation on June 23 and has since served in a caretaker capacity. The Lithuanian parliament approved Sinkevicius, chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, as prime minister on June 30. ■
