CAIRO, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy said here on Monday that the sovereignty of Arab states is a "red line" that must not be compromised.

Speaking at his first press conference since assuming office on July 1, Fahmy said the national security of the Arab world is a shared responsibility that requires a unified stance.

"Any aggression targeting the security of any Arab state is an aggression against the security of the entire Arab world," he said.

On regional tensions, Fahmy said crises in Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.

He reaffirmed the Arab League's commitment to supporting efforts to restore security and stability in these countries, with a focus on preserving their territorial integrity, ending hostilities, expanding humanitarian aid, and ensuring the safe and dignified return of displaced persons and refugees.

Fahmy reiterated that the Palestinian cause remains at the top of the Arab League's priorities, pledging to continue defending the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, working to end the occupation, and holding perpetrators of "crimes against civilians" accountable.
