GAZA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Seven Palestinians, including police officers affiliated with the Hamas-run interior authorities, were killed Tuesday in an Israeli airstrike on a security post in northern Gaza, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
They said that an Israeli drone fired three missiles at the security post in the al-Faluja area, west of the Jabalia refugee camp, causing extensive damage and multiple casualties.
They said the post is located in a crowded market area and near tents sheltering displaced people.
Medical sources confirmed at least seven deaths, including a woman, and several injuries.
In a statement, the interior authorities identified one of the deceased as Mohammed Marwan Salem, director of the Jabalia camp police station, and condemned the attack as a "massacre."
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army regarding the strike.
Gaza-based health authorities said Tuesday that hospitals have received two bodies and 21 wounded over the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll since the ceasefire took effect in October 2025 to 1,110, with 3,599 injured. The overall death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, has reached 73,233, with 173,707 injured, they added.
Separately, Palestinian Finance and Planning Minister Estephan Anton Salameh said Tuesday that international pledges to support Gaza relief efforts have reached 1 billion U.S. dollars.
Speaking to the official Voice of Palestine radio, Salameh said the pledged funds would be used in the near future to support Gaza's residents. ■
