BUENOS AIRES, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina goalkeeper Franco Armani bid farewell to River Plate on Monday after a trophy-laden spell with the Buenos Aires club.
The 39-year-old's contract expired on July 10 and he confirmed it would not be renewed.
"After eight-and-a-half unforgettable years, the time has come to say goodbye to the club I dreamed of representing since I was a child," Armani told a news conference.
"I never imagined fate would give me such a beautiful story. Thank you for so much love."
Armani won 10 trophies during his time with the Argentine top-flight side, including the 2018 Copa Libertadores.
Media reports have linked him with a return to Colombia's Atletico Nacional, where he spent eight seasons before joining River.
Armani earned 19 caps for Argentina and was a member of the Albiceleste's 2018 and 2022 World Cup squads. ■
