BEIJING, July 14 (Xinhua) -- China's meteorological authority on Tuesday evening issued a yellow alert for rainstorms, warning of adverse weather conditions across multiple regions over the next 24 hours.
Torrential rain will lash parts of Henan Province in central China, Shandong Province in east China, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province, both in south China, according to the National Meteorological Center.
Precipitation in these areas is expected to reach 100-220 mm.
Other provinces such as Jilin and Heilongjiang, both located in northeast China, and Sichuan Province in the southwest, will also experience thunderstorms during this period.
The center suggested halting outdoor operations in open areas, evacuating residents from high-risk zones to designated shelters, inspecting drainage systems in cities, farmlands and fish ponds, and adopting essential flood control measures.
China has a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe warning, followed by orange, yellow and blue. ■
