GENEVA, July 13 (Xinhua) -- The FIFA World Cup quarterfinal between Argentina and Switzerland attracted 830,000 television viewers and garnered around 690,000 views on online platforms, according to data released by Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) on Monday.
The largest broadcaster in German-speaking Switzerland said the television audience represented a market share of 93.6 percent, despite the match being broadcast live at 3 a.m. on July 12.
"The Swiss national team also sparked great enthusiasm among SRF viewers," says Roland Magerle, Head of Sport at SRG. "I am delighted that so many viewers watched the quarterfinal against Argentina live on our channels, despite the late-night kick-off time."
Switzerland has a population of around nine million. ■
