RAMALLAH, July 13 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian young man was killed by Israeli forces on Monday northeast of Jerusalem, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The ministry identified the victim as 20-year-old Nasr Kaabneh, saying he was shot by Israeli forces near the separation barrier in the town of Bir Nabala.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army on this incident.
According to Palestinian sources, areas near the separation barrier in the West Bank and Jerusalem have witnessed repeated incidents in which Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians allegedly attempting to cross.
Since October 2023, when the Gaza war broke out, Israeli authorities have revoked or suspended most permits issued to Palestinians to access East Jerusalem and Israel for work and other purposes, according to a UN report in June.
As of June 1, the UN has documented 20 Palestinian fatalities and over 290 injuries sustained while attempting to cross the barrier. ■
