JERUSALEM, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Leapmotor on Monday launched a new hybrid model in Israel, Israeli car dealership Samelet Group said in a statement.
The model, Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV, is a compact crossover SUV that uses range-extended electric vehicle technology, in which an electric motor drives the wheels exclusively, according to the dealership.
Instead of powering the vehicle directly, the onboard 1.5-liter gasoline engine operates only as a generator to charge the battery when needed, eliminating any mechanical link to the wheels.
The model features a combined driving range of 900 km, acceleration from 0 to 100 km in 7.5 seconds, and a top speed of 170 km/h.
Leapmotor entered the Israeli market in late 2022.
In the first half of 2026, Chinese manufacturers led the Israeli car market with 77,625 units sold, up 70.8 percent year-on-year, according to figures issued by the Israel Vehicle Importers Association. ■
