JERUSALEM, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) on Sunday announced the launch of a national artificial intelligence (AI) research and development consortium to advance biology, drug discovery and personalized medicine.
Named the Israel BioToken Factory Initiative, the consortium involves an investment of 70 million shekels (23.2 million U.S. dollars), alongside contributions from leading industry and research partners, the IIA said in a statement.
The consortium will develop a shared technological infrastructure for companies, researchers and healthcare organizations to build advanced AI models based on complex biological data.
Initial applications will focus on areas including oncology, immune system research, sepsis management, transplant rejection, autoimmune diseases and drug development.
The project brings together technology companies, pharmaceutical firms, startups, healthcare organizations, universities and research institutions, the statement said. ■
