MANILA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines held an Open House Day on Saturday, welcoming over 1,000 members of the local community.
During the event, visitors toured the embassy, enjoyed performances of traditional Chinese dance, guzheng music and Shaolin Kung Fu, received traditional Chinese medicine consultations, tried on traditional Chinese attire, and participated in hands-on cultural activities such as Chinese calligraphy, stone rubbing and round fan decorating.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Jing Quan noted that the foundation of China-Philippines relations has been built by the two peoples. He expressed the hope that the two peoples would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in trade, culture and other fields, and jointly advance the sound and steady development of China-Philippines relations.
According to the Chinese embassy, the Open House Day is the first such event the embassy has hosted for the public in the Philippines, which helps locals gain a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture and a better understanding of China through immersive experiences. ■
