PARIS, July 10 (Xinhua) -- China's teenage javelin thrower Yan Ziyi extended her unbeaten run in the 2026 Diamond League season by claiming her fourth consecutive title at the Monaco meeting on Friday, overcoming an early setback to secure victory with a throw of 68.75 meters.
The 18-year-old, who had won each of her previous three Diamond League appearances this season with an opening-round leading mark, fouled on her first attempt in Monaco before responding with a throw of 64.60 meters in the second round to move into the lead.
Yan remained on top for the rest of the competition and capped her performance with a final-round throw of 68.75 meters, her second-best mark ever, trailing only the personal best of 71.74 meters she set at the Xiamen Diamond League earlier this season.
Serbia's Adriana Vilagos finished second with 63.18 meters, while Greece's Elina Tzengko placed third with 58.20 meters.
Yan has now surpassed the 67-meter mark at all four Diamond League meetings she has contested this season.
The Chinese teenager also retained the world No. 1 ranking in the latest World Athletics rankings released on Wednesday. ■
