GENEVA, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese companies won the Global Awards 2026 presented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) here on Friday.
Regend Therapeutics, ArteryFlow, and Botree were among 11 winners selected by the United Nations (UN) agency for innovation from over 1,300 applicants worldwide, representing countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States.
The awards celebrate small and medium-sized enterprises and startups that leverage intellectual property to drive business growth and support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
This year, the organization expanded the accolades to 11 awards by introducing a new sports category.
Regend Therapeutics broke barriers in regenerative medicine by developing a world-first lung repair therapy that is currently in Phase Three clinical trials and has already helped hundreds of patients with severe respiratory diseases.
ArteryFlow pioneered non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics. The company utilizes artificial intelligence algorithms to replace invasive procedures with quick, 3-minute hemodynamic calculations.
Tackling the global scalability bottleneck of electric vehicle battery disposal, Botree focuses on building sustainable battery recycling supply chains. The company utilizes advanced technologies to efficiently recover critical metals such as nickel, cobalt and lithium, making material regeneration more economically viable.
Marcelo Di Pietro Peralta, director of the WIPO Global Awards, said that this year's award winners demonstrate how the strategic use of intellectual property promotes better business results.
